Text Box: St. John’s Extension Center Sibujaya
Text Box: To Seek And To Serve.

Introduction

SJEC was formed in 2008 by the Anglican members who reside in Sibujaya, a new satellite township located 28 kilometres from Sibu town. Formerly these members would travel to the Anglican Church Sibu, for their Sunday Mass. As the population grew up through the years, it was decided that a centre be set up here that would be just an extension of the Anglican Church Sibu. As the centre set up was being prepared, the name St. John’s Extension Centre (SJEC) was proposed by the late Rev. Fr. Bobby and that abbreviation and name was used till now.

This Centre serves the outlying areas namely the Kemuyang, Oya Camp, RASCOM and Rh. Asun and on occasion, visitors as far as Kanowit and Jeriah would attend masses here or participating in any programmes. On rare moment, members may be called to conduct prayers in Selangau area, some 90 km from Sibujaya.

The centre is an upper-floor business room rented on a renewable rental contract of two years.  The rent was agreed on a RM300 monthly basis, excluding utility bills and fixtures. The SJEC was addressed at No. 25, Lot 1192, Lorong Sibujaya, 96000 Sibu and there was no land line installed therein.
